05/05/12 (Saturday) Car Show & Garage Sale

Hey Missfits!!

April is full of fun away bouts, and then May is our next awesome home bout!
We want to pack the house in May, to benefit our charity Relay for Life and because we all love to skate in front of a great crowd!

PR/Fundraising has been looking at different events to support this. We are planning to promote 2 different events on the same day. SATURDAY, MAY 5TH.
Both have great potential, so let’s rise to the occasion and make it a MissFitastic kind of day.

CAR SHOW
Thanks to Nonny and Mark, we have gotten in to the Car Show that will take place in the Hooters parking lot on Hershey Road.
We think this will be great PR. Rock station 96.7 will be there, so we hope to get an interview and mentioned on the air and their website.
The plan is to skate around, sell tickets, and hand out flyers. Let’s show them how fun and pretty we are! The show goes from noon to 6pm, but we’ll probably plan on being there for the first few hours.

GARAGE SALE
Also on this day, we are going to have a garage sale at Cirque D. Slay’s house (Thank you, Slay!). Her house is off of Hershey Road close to Rollingbrook Park.
We plan to promote with signs, community calendars, other online announcements. We need your help with donating things to sell and set up, along with a few to run the sale.
So, PLEASE start rummaging thru your stuff and asking your friends for good garage sale items. If we could get a couple of big ticket items to mention in the sale announcements,
that would be cool. Drop off of items will be easy…bring items to any practice and Laursony, Slay, or I can take it!

These 2 event locations are not too far apart, so hey, maybe some of us can skate back and forth with signs and hot wings.

A Sign up sheet will be posted soon as we work out the details. Save the date! OK? OK!

So as far as the garage sale, I am off work Fridays and (I'm probably going to kick myself) could also work a sale on Friday the 4th if you are interested. I know there are A LOT of hardcore garage salers who hit sales before the weekend. If it would get too confusing that's fine - but I figure if we are going to go through the effort of getting stuff together and figuring out prices, we might as well offer as much chance as possible to sell all our crap!

Just a thought....

Open to having it both days, but would like to know if we have 1 or 2 others willing to help you on Friday-who can do it?

(We'd collect donations at practices the next couple of weeks and have
Final setup on Thurs then.)

I'm willing to help anytime I can both days. My schedule wont come out til the week before , but I'm sure i can make time!

I am off at noon on Fridays, but that may not help, depending on the times we want to set for the garage sale.

I could help Friday, I always stay up all day Friday anyway.

I didn't sign up on the genius, but I can come friday to do whatever. I also have a lot of items to donate.

So I will be Omaha all weekend and will miss this. The first big fundraiser I will miss . But I have a lot to donate!

For anyone donating garage sale items, please list on the signup what types of things (like kids toys, girls clothes sizes 6-10, 19' TV, tutus, etc.) in the next few days. We want to advertise some of the things we have in our announcements.

Ill be in missouri that weekend and am planning a garage sale the following thu and fri. I will gladly donate some stuff though!

I dont know if i will be able to help out as far as running it; but i will def go through and see if we have items. may have some baby stuff??

I'm so incredibly sorry to do this, but I have not had time to round up things for the garage sale, and i'm not sure i'll be able to in time to get the items to Bloomington without a special trip. Please cancel my offer to donate items and if I find time to gather things up, it'll be a nice surprise.

I have relay signs you can put up! I have to work both that Friday and Saturday, but I will see what I can make, maybe even to help clean up!

Sunny, great! How many do you have? We really want to use them to promote the bout, but if there are plenty of them/or we can quickly change them from garage sale to bout, we can promote both with them!!

I bought five, they are a dollar a piece. You can put the posters on metal stands and take them in and out of yard! Do you think that is enough? I could give them to Lynn on Sunday or give them to Mox today, I am not sure what would be easier?

Well, let's see what they look like. If we can reuse them to promote bouts in the future, we could use more of them, as it is a cheap promotional method.

Am sorry I have to work all day and night on Fridays and Saturday I have a wedding to go to !!!

If anyone has stuff they want to donate, I will be around this weekend so you can drop it off to my place before the sale.

Cirque... I plan on dropping some stuff for the garage sale off to your home thurs evening after the carnival. Will you be home then around 7-730? And I can help you set up some if you need too.
