BRRR! polar plunge team?

Hey Ladies!
Every year in February or March I take the Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics. Last night I was talking to a couple girls about getting a derby girl team together for it. I will be plunging either way, but if we would like to create a team, I would love to have my derby girls by my side!

The Plunge this year is Sunday, February 27th at Miller Park Lake. Shoes are recommended; costumes are encouraged, and make it so much more fun! Each plunger needs to raise $75 to plunge, and you get a hooded sweatshirt. Every year I have raised well over $75 without my own contributions. Most people think I am crazy for doing it, so they throw the donation down and avoid the water.

This will be my 4th plunge, so I am totally a pro at it by now. Trust me, I hate winter more than just about anyone but this is such a crazy fun way to raise money for a cause that I am very passionate about.

Sorry...this might be the only one I won't do...f that. I will totally raise money and all that biz. However you will never see my skinny ass in some frozen water...nope no way.

Let me know what I can do on the raising money thang though fo sho.

YAY! I just registered our team, so if you are ready to register you can go to www.soill.org, and click on "Registration is now open" under the Polar Plunge section on the right side of the page.

# Clickon the “Register Now” snowflake, which will direct you to our secure online registration and fundraising website.
# Once at the Firstgiving start page with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Illinois header, click the GET STARTED button.
# At the next page, you will be prompted to select your event / Plunge location. (Choose Bloomington-Miller Park Lake) You will then be sent to that event’s overview page – click the RAISE MONEY button.
# Select Yes register online now. Follow the online instructions to complete your individual registration.
# At the end of registration, you will be asked: Want to be part of a team?
# Under the Find a Team to Join option, search for Missfits and Friends.

The firstgiving site is free, you can personalize your donation page and email to friends, you can also link it to Facebook. You will have to raise $75 to plunge, but you have plenty of time to get that! I send out reminder emails periodically.

You probably could, but you will have to show up that day and sign in to receive the hoodie. Or you can donate to us. If you want to be qualified as a plunger, but don't want to actually jump in-you have to raise $75.

So....the question is: What are we going to wear? Most people dress up in costumes, but you don't want anything too heavy!
Ideas?!
Our team is mostly Missfits, with a few of my friends-do we want to do a derby theme? or something completely different? Re-use our 80's outfits?

I'm putting it on my calendar. I hate the cold SOOOOO much that I'll have to triple-dog-dare myself before I actually sign up, and I only have two dogs.

Well If you decide to do it, you need to register before hand and each person has to raise $75

When you registered, did you make a Firstgiving fundraising page? If you did, you can email that and share it on facebook, people can donate right to your secure site. You can also take cash and check (made out to Special Olympics Illinois). The firstgiving page is free, go back to the beginning of this tread and there is a post about how to create that page.

I made this hat for Aaron for Christmas, so I'll have to start another one for my plunging costume. And figure out what I need to go with it. Brrrrrr!
