I voted on everything except captains for the mixer..the poll wouldn't let me scroll down to that section...are the As allowed to vote for captains or just all eligible skaters for the mixer?

I only sent it to the mixer skaters.

I'm so confused now.... Why are we voting again? And why wouldnt' mine include a re-vote for captains if that's what it's for?

So how far does this rule go? On Facebook, I am myself and so are a lot of other people. Does this mean I can't tag a picture of people in derby? Also my email is under my real name. Should we all make seperate derby name emails and fb pages? This rule can get out of control. Guidelines or sub rules are needed for clarification because I don't know how thoroughly people feel they need their identities protected... I don't want to get in trouble...

Ice, that's a great thought. I voted yes on this but my thought was more just fans at bouts or publicity stuff.

Excellent point, Ice. I had my derby name included in my FB name but removed as soon as this rule was proposed. The derby community is pretty huge...

My thought on the proposal was to avoid creepy stalker opportunities - so the obvious - "hey, what's that pretty girl's real name? where does she work?" - and the somewhat less so - don't require people to print their real names in their bios, be conscious in radio interviews and don't say things like "We're everywhere in the community - our President, Priscilla, works at Schooners and lives in an old house nearby...."

I wrote the proposal to say "another skater's name" - figuring an individual's own privacy concerns are up to her to decide.

But I hadn't thought about facebook at all in relation to this proposal, and that was a huge thing to leave out. So, yeah, clarification. Guess that's Step Two?

I'm trying to decide what I want to do for myself on facebook. I see if you create a page, it still shows you as the administrator - so if you want a Derby Name account that's not linked to you, you'd have to create a whole separate facebook account. But I want my friends to see my derby pictures - so I'm not doing that right now. I notice some people who teach have separate personal and professional accounts - but even then, they get kind of blurred.

Maybe a first step is to note that some people do make choices regarding facebook and e-mail and everyone should be aware of respect that? I notice Sherry Pain from Decatur will only tag derby photos with her derby name, not her real name - I think she uses her regular facebook page for work. Argh....I'm sorry I didn't think of this.

I voted against this b/c I thought that people would be unintenionally breaking this rule all the time. While I dont want people giving my info to random strangers; I wear my jacket, have pics & my derby name on fb, etc all outside of derby.

I agree bruiz e and I felt like anyone at any time could potentially raise a grievance against another skater using the rule. Its a hard rule to regulate it will need to be specified. I also feel that the rule is unneeded due to common sense and common courtesy.
