06/23 (Thursday): Karaoke at Medici's

Laura---we don't need to sign up if we're just going to cheer on our Fits, do we? I mean, is there a "cover charge" if we're just a spectator?

No cover charge! There's a $10 entry fee for contestants, but Tristan says he'll waive that fee for MissFits. So you'll only need money to drink, vote, and bowl. (I wanna bowl after - don't know about the rest of y'all!) Cheap beer and $2.00 wells.

General consensus is that it's not a good spot for skating inside or out, so wear your best boutift or other outrageous costume, and if you want to slide around, put on the bowling shoes!

omg don't tell him, but I finally put two and two together and realized 1) who Tristan is, and 2) why he knows my name and I don't know his. I haz a big case of the dumbs. And I need to pay more attention to where our graduates go. Sheesh. I'll be there!

He's already dated one derby girl (a Bradley professor from the Push). Central Illinois is like one giant small town!

Looks like we'll have a good crowd of MissFits tonight! Only a handful of people have pre-registered to sing, so it would be great more people wanted to jump in and perform if things get slow. Don't forget to bring your dollars so you can vote for Common! (We register for free, but votes are still for sale - this is a proper Illinois election.)

Crazy costumes are encouraged. I don't think it has to be family-friendly, but this is the young lawyers' group and some of them are probably single, so your choice of outfit may depend on what you want to bring home.

8:00 is what's scheduled for the official Karaoke-contesting part. I imagine the drinking and bowling parts can go on much later. Don't know how long Charlie the Karaoke guy will stick around - I just left the office, and he's over there right now setting up.

they have regular karaoke starting at 9pm, so he will be sticking around all night! i have a softball game at 9, so i have to scoot out by 8:30

I also could not stop laughing out loud and reading that paragraph to my co-workers.
