06/23 (Thursday): Karaoke at Medici's

We've been requested to provide fun, color, and celebrity singers at a Karaoke contest/fundraiser at Medici's in Normal on June 23 at 6:00 pm (with registration starting at 5:30).

The event is hosted by the McLean County Bar Association as a fundraiser for Prairie State Legal Services of Bloomington. The bar association is having their own night at a Cornbelters game later in the summer (like us!), and the contest is to choose who gets to sing the national anthem for them. Contestants will pay an entry fee, then people will vote with their dollars on their favorite entrant.

Everyone at Prairie State is pretty nuts about roller derby, so that's why they think it would be fun to have us there and keep the evening exciting. The organizer would like a few derby girls to be there and just hang out, and would also like a group of 4 or so to do a song at some point in the evening - whatever song we think would be fun. We're also welcome to set up a merch table. On or off skates is up to us. We should definitely (in my view) be boutfitted up if we're off skates. There will be free pizza and $2.00 well drinks.

So, who's in, and what do you want to sing? A web page for the event should be up in the next day or two, and with any luck I'll have posters soon.

Oops! Contest starts at 6:00; registration starts at 5:30, or people can pre-register online. Once the pre-registration is up (which should be today, except the office manager is having false contractions, so that's kind of throwing off schedules), there will be a list of available songs.

awwww, you are too kind! I have a softball game at 9pm that night, so it depends on how long the competition is gonna go will depend if i will be able to compete.

We probably have enough pull to make sure you get scheduled when you want to sing Tristan already says he'll vote for you!

Yes, we can have a merchandise table! I'm not sure how late it's going to run, so I'll find that out to know how much coverage we'll need.

I just saw the posters and they look GREAT! We're on them, under "Special Appearances By" - so we definitely need some great MissFit singers. There's no entry fee for a MissFit peformance, but we could still win the chance to perform at another Cornbelters game (July , and get a little more publicity.

They've asked if we can get a poster up at the tattoo shop - who would I ask/give one to? Is there anyplace else that would be good for a poster? Let me know and I'll bring them on Saturday.

I tried to send invitations to everyone - but if I didn't get you, feel free to invite everyone you think of. If you write to Tristan to tell him you're singing, be sure to tell him you're a MissFit. It would be really great to have a group of MissFits singing, especially if we can come up with some sort of roller-derby appropriate song. If nothing else, maybe a group can do "Monster Mash" to promote the bout?

The Karaoke night has MOVED to Keglers Pub inside Pheasant Lanes Bowling Alley, on Hershey Road across from Hooters. Same time. I don't know why yet, but I'll pass on details as I get them.

Unless something changes with the new site, we'll want to plan on selling merchandise, and bout tickets if they've been printed. Maybe I can collect those on Wednesday?

It would be really nice to have more MissFits singing - maybe even a MissFit group performance! He's been trying to find the perfect Roller Derby song. Does anyone have suggestions?
