Do we need a vehicle in the parade? I can clean my jeep up and take the T tops off if we want to use it to decorate and hang signs on......?

Jerm is bringing his truck. Thanks though! We'll keep this in mind for future parades!

Good questions Snots! And, do we have an estimated end time for this? I really want to participate and bring Miette, but I have to leave for the River Demons mixer by 2:30...

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade
Yes terrific questions and we are trying to find out as well! The parade starts at 1, however they want us to be there at noon.
Jerry I'm not sure how long it runs as I've never done the St. Patrick's Day Parade, but you could leave anytime. No pressure to stay if it runs too long and you have other commitments. Though I seriously doubt it will last longer than an hour. Unless it turns out like the labor day parade and we sit around for 3 hours before we start walking.
As far as WHERE to meet, they are going to get back to us either today or tomorrow about that. Not sure what the hold up is, but as of yesterday they couldn't give us an answer yet.

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade
Here is final parade map:http://il-normal.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/4363
On the map you will see the Red Lot off of School Street. This will be the check in and main staging area. The only vehicles allowed in this lot are vehicles in the parade! This is near Milner library and directly across the street from a church (though I can't think of the name of the church). If you get there a little late, find us at the staging areas (either 1 or 2) down the road on school street (closer to the Alamo II).
Vehicles not in the parade should park in the 2 blue lots marked on the map as participant parking next to the red lot. Please park your car and walk to the red lot for staging and to meet up with all members of your group.
Parade check in begins at noon on Saturday. We ask all participants be checked in by 12:30pm. If your group is not checked in by 12:30, you will be towards the back of the parade.
PARADE DO'S AND DON'TS
1. If tossing candy, THROW CANDY TO THE SIDE OF YOU. We need to keep people not in the parade out of the street for obvious safety concerns.
2. As the parade draws to a close, PLEASE FOLLOW THE ROUTE TO THE UNLOADING AREA. Turn right onto Linden and then take another right into the old Amtrak parking lot area. This is the unloading area.
