09/02/2013 (Monday): Labor Day Parade

We are signed up for the Labor Day Parade in Downtown Bloomington again this year. The parade starts on Front Street downtown and ends at Miller Park. The Trades and Labor Assembly will send me more details! As always, this should be a super fun event, and also a great opportunity to advertise our league and our October bout.

Line up will probably start around 9 or 10, along Front Street. We will get our exact line up point in the next week or so. Like always we will need to bring lots of candy, and we might have beads this year!

Reminder - the Labor Day Parade is this Monday! I should get more information this week, but please sign up to skate if you can!

Also, if you cannot make it, you can still contribute candy! I will take bags of candy at practice this Monday or Wednesday!

So Jerm will be out of town for the Labor Day parade. We usually use his truck because our logo is on it, plus it advertises for him. He gave us permission to use it in the parade.

Yep!  Jerm is awesome and letting us borrow the truck, and our own Mr. Suicide should be able to drive it for the parade!

Also Mike Matejka sent us more information about the parade.  This year we are Unit number 95, and we're lining up on Gridley street.  Line up begins at nine, but only the truck needs to be there by then.  The rest of us can get there by 10.

In past years we met at the District 87 Office on 300 E. Monroe St. and parked there, and then walked over as a group.  So let's meet there aroun 9:20ish and walk over to our spot!  Skaters, remember to bring candy!

Also, remember, if you can't skate that day, candy donations are always appreciated!  Also, please sign up!

Hey Ginger, this was just a thought we had last night. We will be handing out about 500 necklaces with our bout info on them, do we really need a lot of candy on top of that?

I would say a few bags of candy would be a good idea. People go crazy for beads and we might go through them faster then we think. If we do then we will have a couple bags of candy as back up and if not we have candy to set out at our next bout. Win Win

I agree with Bart! Candy as back up is a good idea. This parade is the longest route and there are a bunch of people there.

As of 10 minutes ago, we are making an impromptu trip to Indiana to Cecil's hometown this weekend, so I will not be able to skate now.
Can I get credit for working on the info necklaces?

I recorded everyone that helped with beads. Can't guarantee how much it's worth, but you'll get some sort of credit for it

Little Scratch said I can walk in the parade if she can walk/ride.
She's 10. Is this ok or a no-no?

I am also wondering about bringing the icicles... I want to come, would they be able to ride or walk?

Yes! Kids are totally welcome to walk or ride in the truck! One year Bruiz E pulled Little Bruiz E in a wagon and it was adorable!

Little Scratch and the Icicles sounds like a sweet band.

do you know about what time this parade ends? I need to know if I would make i back for work in time or not.

Usually ends around 1:30 or 2:00.
