Attendance!

Hi Everyone! We believe that it is very important to remind all of you that attendance is very important this season. If you do not make your 50% practice attendance in the four week period before the bout, then you will not bout. Under the new attendance policy there are no exceptions.

Now, Wrecka and HR have decided to try to do mid-month attendance reminders, so that way those falling behind can make efforts to catch up. More importantly, though, it is every skater's responsibility to track her attendance to make sure she is making her required practices.

The attendance document is under Important Info --> Documents and Policies (subfolder) --> Attendance Document. Wrecka posts the link to the attendance document at the beginning of each month. If you attended a practice and it is not marked on the attendance document you can contact Wrecka Holmes.

Captains also have access to update the attendance doc, so if you need to contact someone about it you can also ask your captains!

We received some further clarification from the Process and Planning Committee about what "attend and participate" in practice means for attendance purposes. For practice attendance to count, you either need to be skating or helping out at practice. Just coming to practice and sitting and watching will not be sufficient to count for attendance purposes.

If in advance of a practice, you know that you will not be skating, but you want to attend and help out at practice, contact the Training Committee Heads, JMFK and Sass, and they will let you know who is running practice, and those people may be able to assign you a job. Or if you show up to practice, but are not planning on skating, find JMFK and Sass, and they will direct you to who is running practice, and they may assign you a job to help out.

However, at certain practices, there may not be enough jobs to go around. If there is not a job for you to do, then you will be out of luck. Also, the responsibility is on those not skating at practice to find Sass and JMFK and those running practice to get assigned a job. Training Committee, HR, or the Board are not going to seek people out to give them something to do. If you want your practice attendance to count, but you are not skating, it is your responsibility to try to find a way to help.
