TRAVEL TEAM TRYOUTS

Here is the write up for the travel team tryouts system that the training committee has been working on. I know everyone is going to do great! Its a lot of information, please try to read though so that you will be prepared for what is going to happen. If you have any questions please email the training committee.
We will continue to go over the minimum and advanced skills in practices leading up to tryouts. We will also be doing some "scrimmage workshops" to begin working with the new rule set.
Don't forget to sign up for your 25 in 5.

Not to be nitpicky but there's a revision needed:

In the referee/rules section:
>36 correct answers = 1 FAIL (must retake)
should be
<36 correct answers = 1 FAIL (must retake)

>7 correct = 1 (no retake)
should be
<7 correct = 1 (no retake)

> is greater than
< is less than

I only know how to use greater/less than signs to make emoticon hearts.

Are freshies required to retest on their 25 in 5?

Freshies aren't required to test 25 in 5 again as far as I understand, but your time determines your score on the skill for tryouts so you can try to improve it for a higher score.

so i totally racked my tailbone on sunday night when i fell on my skate. i'm thinking that a few of the skills for tryouts (especially a baseball slide), will be too painful for me to do right now. i'm guessing i am just out of luck as far as performing these basic skills at tryouts, although TC members have probably seen me do them just fine several times before?

Vile my advice to you is do what you can to the best of your ability right now. There is plenty of things that will be scored if you want to still try out to be on a travel team.

Hi everyone! So, the WFTDA rules written test is on the google doc under Day 2, along with advanced skills, strategy test and hand signals test.
However, since we are hoping to have some extra time at the end of practice tomorrow (during which TC members will be testing our advanced skills), we will have copies of the WFTDA rules test and pencils available if anyone wants to go ahead and get that out of the way on Day 1.

Here are our groups for tryouts. If you were in the most recent graduating fresh meat group, you are listed under your first name even if you have picked a derby name. The groups are done in alphabetical order to be random at various skill levels- it also helps us to be organized with paperwork. I expect some people to not be interested in trying out, and some are out due to injury so if your group may become smaller. During day 1 the newest graduating fresh meat group have the option to re test skills so they may or may not be joining us. Remember your group number when you get to the YWCA and we will tell you where each station is starting when we begin practice. Here goes nuthin'! Thank you league and good luck

So...I'm not trying out, but don't i need to test for everything else (besides 25/5)? Or am I waiting to test till I do that first?

Minimum skills are required to be bout and scrimmage eligible. You can test for everything besides 25/5 tonight, that way once you are ready to test for your laps everything else will already be done.

Whew! I was a little worried!
