03/17/2012 (Saturday): St. Patrick's Day Parade
We are signed up for the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Uptown Normal. I have not received any details yet, but if it's anything like last year then the parade starts at 10 am and its route is: starts at the corner of School and Locust, down School Street to North, through the Uptown Circle to Beaufort, ending on Linden.
As always parades are always great PR for us -- this is two weeks before our March bout, so it will be the perfect time to advertise.
I will post details and a sign up genius once the date gets closer, but clear your calendars now! Yay parades!

Re: 03/17/2012 (Saturday): St. Patrick's Day Parade
I just received more information about the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I don't have details yet about where we are going to line up, or the rules about candy and fliers, but I do have the times and route information! Also, this parade is in support of the Easter Seals, so I wonder if we could all pitch in a few dollars to donate? Or maybe we could ask for donations in some way at the Drop Dead and Werepire Day Concert to donate?
Also Mark, I did say we would have one vehicle, so if you would like to drive your shiny truck, that would be great!
Anyway the details that I know:
Time: Line up begins at noon, and the parade begins at 1:00 pm in Uptown Normal (they do not know yet where we will be lining up, they will have that information to me by March 12th)
Route: Starts on West North Street, through the Uptown Circle, onto East Beaufort Street, and we will disperse on Linden (this route does not seem bad at all, plus we skated the Labor Day Parade, so we've totally got this!)
Here's the sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B45A5AF2F4-stpatricks

Oh and we are encouraged to bring lots and lots of candy, and we can definitely hand out fliers. So if everyone in the league could donate a bag of candy, that would be wonderful!

Yay! I signed up. Parades are fun! In peoria the popular thing the kids wanted were mardi gras beads not candy. They were like zombies yelling BEADS! If i can find some in quantity ill bring em for us to throw

This is Mr. Rockurass's bday...so I'm gonna try and get him out to watch. Maybe we can throw cake at him
Re: 03/17/2012 (Saturday): St. Patrick's Day Parade
I got more informations about the St. Patrick's Day Parade. We will be able to park in two reserved parking lots on School and Locust Street. Then we will need to go over to the First United Methodist Church parking lot (which is right across the street from where we park -- at least according to the map), where they will tell us exactly where we will be in the line up (but it was unclear where exactly the line up will be, we'll have to go with the flow).
So how about we meet at the church at noon as a group and we'll go from there.
Also, the e-mail reminded us that we need to bring lots and lots of candy! So if everyone could bring at least one bag of candy, that would be wonderful. If you cannot participate in the parade, then if you could bring a bag or two of candy to Wednesday practice that would be great!
Let me know if you have any questions! This is going to be so much fun!

I am going to help with decorating Normal in the morning, so I'm going to skate to town earlier if anyone wants to join.

I am not going to be able to make this now, due to family obligations. Sorry ladies! Is there anyone I can drop some candy off to, either tonight or on Friday?

Re: 03/17/2012 (Saturday): St. Patrick's Day Parade
Yes, Patches! I work in the old Bloomington Junior High school building, so if you want to drop off your candy on Friday before 2:00 pm, that would be great. Just text me when you are coming by.
That also goes for everyone else who is not skating in the parade Saturday and would like to donate candy!

Ginger -
I'm not sure if the message sent when I deleted myself from the sign up genius, but I can't be in the parade now cause I'll be in Chicago...I'm leaving on a 9:45am train Saturday morning. I'm so srawry, I love doing the parades!!!!

Noon in the United Methodist Church parking lot, which is where they will tell us where we line up. Park in the two reserved parking lots for parade participants on School and Locust St.

Re: 03/17/2012 (Saturday): St. Patrick's Day Parade
This is tomorrow! See you there!
Here's the address to the First United Methodist Church, where we shall meet at noon (there is parking in two reserved lots across the street):
211 N. School St.
Normal, IL 61761
See you tomorrow! Wear green! Bring your gear! And for the love of all things derby, please bring candy (beads will be awesome too Sass if you managed to procure them!)!
Let me know if you have questions.

Can I have a +1 in a missfit shirt walk with us for support, or is it just skaters?

Totally bring the plus one T. Basco. He or she can either walk with us, or sit in the back of truck, waving like a beauty queen!
