Re: New Code of Conduct
I don't think I understand why we need more than wftda code of conduct. And are the skaters allowed to see wftda codes of conduct? Perhaps that could help us in the dark understand the method or place which these came from and what in addition our league is trying to accomplish by adding to them
Re: New Code of Conduct
The WFTDA code of conduct is incredibly high level and is more like an honor code in that regard.
Stripping all the additional language, it basically has only a few very loose rules.
1. Don't hurt WFTDA's image.
2. Don't hurt WFTDA's image.
3. Follow all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and laws of all corresponding agencies (aka leagues or affiliates).
4. All business must be conducted with honesty, fairness and integrity.
5. Treat others with dignity and fairness.
6. Don't be complicit with others breaking the above rules.
This would be extremely difficult to enforce out the league level because they're easily abused via interpretation from both angles.
The proposed code of conduct does not contradict any of the above statements and actually spells out how to be in compliance with the above guidelines and clearly states the behaviors that are not in compliance to remove the grey areas.

Re: New Code of Conduct
Don't hurt WFTDA's image earned multiple lines because they mentioned it like 4 times in the code which is barely 4 paragraphs long.

Re: New Code of Conduct
Thanks for explaining it Howser. I would love to have it available for viewing for the league if possible even if its hard to understand.

Re: New Code of Conduct
I also believe, Melle correct me if I am wrong, our mentor will be providing us with a more detailed wftda code of conduct. As far as wftda suspending you for a bout is something we can check into how easy it is or what the process is. As we approach our charter we are learning more things that we need to do and complete and/or follow as a Leauge. We play the sport of roller derby and run a buisness...all of us do...and we need to follow a code of conduct. This code is in detail to prevent any grey area just like Howser said. It's not to make people feel like they are being watched, it's too cover all the basis incase something does happen. We want to be professional and with that comes some rules to follow. That's all. No one here now violates these. We also want to set the basis/tone for years to come. So in 10years the Leauge has a clear and cut basis to go off of. Just rolling with the changes:) Nothing more and nothing less.
