WFTDA Safety Protocol

Post  nonny noisemaker on Sat Apr 14, 2012 3:39 pm

WFTDA has a safety protocol that we need and have to follow. Part of it is having a first aid kit at all practices. This is something that we need to do asap. MARK--Do you have like a bag of somesort that we can put all of our first aid supplies in?

So I thought it would be cool to get a sign up genius going for us Missfits to supply the products needed. Since we will be the ones to use it. Mark has found us a great deal on ice packs and we have ordered.

Also we need someone that is CPR/First Aid certified at all practices. I know Tabasco and Jackers are but is anyone else? I am thinkink of taking a class so I can become certified and think it would be cool if some of you did with me. That way we have a guarentee that someone at practice is.

I will do some research on free classes and post.

Here is the link for the first aid signup:
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B084DAAAF2F4-first

I would like to have all the supplies in ASAP but with a deadline of May 1st.

Thanks everyone!! Very Happy

Nonny I have a Red Cross first aid kit I will donate but it could use some replacement items. Some things on the list are in there and more. So it wont hurt to have extras and be prepared especially w/ wraps, band aids and ice. I also have a Red Cross reusable pocket mask I will put in there. I used to be certified in First Aid and CPR by red cross but it has expired and I would be interested in re-certification.

I think my certification expired a few months ago, but I would be up for re-newing it. I had to take the test every year I worked at Chestnut, so I prawrbably still remember it.

Let me know if there's a class or something, I'd be willing to attend with you. Wouldn't hurt since I'm at almost all of the scrimmages and if it's a requirement at least those would always be covered.

I have the first aid kit that Crux gave me and I bring it to the practices I am at and derbys. Think we should have a couple would be to hard since not everyone is at every practice?

Also would be up for the class been many years since I have been certified.

The Red Cross offers group classes in CPR and First Aid for organizations. Trainers will come to us at our convenience and teach the course. Is this something that maybe we should all do? If we're interested, I can call the Red Cross and find out cost, etc. This is something we could do during a practice time and we could use the Y's gym (obviously, just a suggestion).

I have some ice packs left over from the last bout, i was hanging on to them for the next bout, but maybe Mark can keep them w/ the first aid stuff. I assume he brings that to bouts as well?

I would also be interested in taking the class.

Haha! CPR trained, not CRP. Hopefully I'm better at doing it than I am at spelling it.....

If someone needs it, I don't think they'll be picky about the spelling....
