February 2012 PR event!

Hey, guys! My work asked me if the Missfits could make an appearance at a family activity event on Friday night, February 3rd, from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. It would be at the YWCA in their gym, so we know the floor will work for us. They would like us to work one of the activity stations...we would be on skates, and they are going to figure out something for the kids to wrap their feet in (like wax paper?) to slide around on the gym floor. There was also talk of a derby demo. I figured it'd be nice to get back in that gym on skates, since there's a good chance we'll be on hiatus at the beginning of the new year. I know it's a ways away, but I wanted to give you all plenty of notice. They said the more Missfits there, the better!

So, who's down? I work with some really cute kids...

Depending on if I still have the same job I have now or have moved on, I would like to do this...(at my current job I have to work Friday nights but I am looking into one with no nights or weekends)

The lady at Heartland Head Start (who is in charge of putting this together) had a meeting yesterday morning with the other agencies who are going to be participating in this event, too. They are super excited to have us involved! My goal is to get at least 20 skaters to attend this...it's only a couple hours, and I think the kids will really love it! It would definitely look good if we came out in full force, especially with the other organizations that are going to be there.

I even made my first ever "sign up genius" about it! I know it's early, but I wanted to give everyone enough time to plan. Thanks so much!!

This sounds like so much fun and another opportunity to wear my tutu! Is there anyway that I could arrive later (like 6:30?) because I am not exactly sure what time I will get out of work on that day.

Whenever is fine, Ginger! And bust out that tutu- derby gear and attire are encouraged (as long as our lady bits are covered)!

Oh, hey guys! This is Friday! Head Start and the other agencies that are going to be there are super stoked to see us!

Also, it's a circus theme. Just wanted to give you all a head's up in case you wanted to plan accordingly.

I'm going to go straight there from work, hopefully getting there around 5. The official times for this event are 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. So excited!

How many clowns are going to be there? No Seriously...I can handle Gacy, but any more than that and you'll have a basket case on your hands. I can be there depending on the amount of clownage.

I didn't even think about clowns. Hopefully none. I can't do clowns either.

I sent an e-mail letting the boss lady know you were bringing your kids. Haven't heard back, so I'm guessing it's cool.

As for other items, we are going to have a table set up at our station...do we have a banner/sign that we can put on the front? And if we have flyers with our season printed on them, that would be rawrsome. We can just set them on the table, probably shouldn't forceably hand them out, as it's more of a "let's pay attention to the kids" and not so much of a "promote the Missfits!" But there have definitely been some people asking about our bouts around here...

While "normal" clowns may be present (and questionably appropriate!), I don't feel that JWG's Pogo the Clown is appropriate for a children's event, so rest assured - I will *not* be in clown face!
