Alright, are you ready to choose captains for the new All Star team? Good, so am I. Below is a list of everyone who said they were interested in running. If your name is on this list, this is your chance to let us know why you should be a Captain for the All Stars. Just leave a blurb here and get it done by Sunday, since that’s when voting will begin.

On Sunday you will receive an email to vote for who you want the Captains to be. Remember that there will be 3 so keep in mind who you think will work well together, shows the dedication and skills that you would need from a leader.

Voting will close on Wednesday the 21st. After the Captains are chosen, they can pick a bench coach and choose their team. After that’s all done, we’ll do a repeat of this process for the Wanna B’s.

Possible Captains for All Stars:

Malice Cullen
Daize Aster
May Q Sick
Assualtine Cracker Jackers
Ward of the Skate
T Wrecks
aMOXIEcilla
JMFK
Nonny Noisemaker
Camp Rockurass

If I for some reason or another missed your interest in running, just go ahead and post something.

Hi its me Nonny! This is why you should vote for me for allstar captain:

Being with this league since the first skate at Skate n Place I have fallen deeply in love with this sport and all of you! I honestly cannot think of what I did before it.

Being a MissFit and playing roller derby is a huge part of my life and I will never leave.

In the beginning I had no clue what derby was. But with lots and lots of practicing and reading I have come far.
I have been pushed and challenged to do my best and praise jebus for that because it opened my eyes and body to what I can contribute to my team! I appreciate those who have believed in me!

I love working together as a team! I look forward to becoming more and more tight! Teamwork is key!

Being an allstar now has challenged me to take my derby skills to the next level! I can only keep moving forward and up! The more experience I gain the more I keep growing from it and would love to help others grow too!

Bottom line: I would love to take the challenge of being a captain! I have the time and motivation for taking on such a great role. I am always available and can be at every bout, practice and meeting. I can bring great leadership, new ideas, tons of positive attitude and not to mention lots of smiles!

That's my story and I'm sticking too it:)

Love,
Nonny

Hey!

I want to be captain; I have some serious dedication to this league and want nothing but the BEST for it. I feel like I make a pretty kick ass captain. I have what it takes and WILL get the job done, very promptly.

I understand this game so well and will do what it takes to make our team like super awesome! I have set up and run several practices and bench coached a time or 10. I am loud and I am sure sometimes obnoxious, but not afraid to hold back and tell you what you need to work on. I will always listen to anything you have to say and will do what I can to make it work. I do everything to the best of my ability and don't hold back. Oh I will also gladly let you borrow one of my skates for scrimmage, cause that’s just what captains do! Very Happy
XOXO,
Camp

P.S. I will also always arrange some sort of pasta party the night before a bout! Smile

heya missfits, its moxie. you might remember me from such bouts as missfits v scr or pTERRORdactyls v betties. i have been skating with the missfits since we were all skatertots and have helped shape this league to be what it is today. from reaching out to other leagues, pushing you on the track and coaching from the sidelines, i have done it all with you ladies. i was the very first captain of the allstars (with camp woot! in decatur circa 2010) and am co-captain (for life!) of the dactyls. i have been playing the game, been captain and bench coached several bouts. when i had surgery and missed out on two bouts, i coached the hell out of you ladies at our very first home game. and it was a victory! i have ran several practices, researched drills, made lineups a thousand times and am constantly seeking ways to make us even more awesome than we already are. i attend freshmeat practices and i know how each missfit skates inside and out. i know the game, i can play the hell out of it and work very well with a team. my motto: teamwork makes the dream work. i feel i have proven myself a great captain in the past year and hope you all give me a chance to keep moving forward with this badass group of bitches!

aMOXIEcilla 500mg (the drug for all your derby needs)

ps: good luck ladies. i will be proud to call any of you captain and/or work beside you

Well ladies, my bitchface is off. I am all smiles at the opportunity to tell you why I love this league so much and why I want to be the 2012 Allstars captain Smile
I have had a rough few weeks, and if it wasn't for this amazing league I would probably be a hot mess! I have had to search inside myself and find the strength to keep going, and with a lot of help from my derby sisters I am the strongest Jackers you bitches have ever known.

I started with the MissFits in May of 2010, and I was instantly hooked! I started the freshmeat committee, ran all recruiting by myself for the first few months and successfully organized 3 rounds of tryouts. While in charge of freshmeat, I ran practices, made skill groups, assessed skills, and organized transitions to vet practices. I have since relinquished that title so I can be on the board. I am currently the Senior Bitch Advisor, AKA Moxie's right hand woman. Whenever there is a problem, all Moxie has to do is ask and this bitch puts on the bitchface. As senior bitch advisor I am also in charge of organizing and running league meetings, submitting names to the TwoEvils roster, some interleague planning, and picking up random tasks that the league may need. I recently picked up attendance duties, while Wrecka is injured.

Being in charge of freshmeat, I have been able to see a majority of the skaters from their first practice work through the frustrations and become amazing derby girls! I still go to freshmeat practices, and I rarely ever miss a vet practice. I am like a sponge, I am always watching my teammates and noticing what they do well or what they could work on. I have played as a CupQuake, pTERRORdactyl, AllStar and Wanna B. I have bench coached scrimmages, ran numerous practices (remember those suicides Sunday?!), I reffed the Decatur bout in December, and I know a few of the NSO positions. I am organized, hard working, brutally honest and 100% dedicated to this league. I work night shift, so the scheduling will never be a problem for me and derby is my life!

I have worn so many hats already for this league, Assaultine Cracker Jackers as an AllStar captain just makes sense.
Rawr!

Hey there MissFits!
I'll try to keep this short and sweet...I love roller derby and I love all of you. I have been a MissFit from the beginning and now this sport and this league are such a huge, important part of my life I just can't imagine not being a part of it.
Every time I skate, whether at practice or in a bout situation, I give it my all...with heart, mind, and body, while maintaining a positive attitude. I love learning and teaching and the way we all do both continually in this league. I am incredibly dedicated to the MissFits and I feel that over time I have gotten to know my teammates in numerous ways, both personally and athletically.
As Captain, I would feel confident in assessing strengths and addressing room for improvement. I feel comfortable in a leadership position, and I finally have the time in my schedule to contribute to that role. Oh, and I play nice with others...I believe that every team member's voice should be heard and considered valuable when making decisions for the group, and negative or dominant attitudes will only get us nowhere.
I would love to be considered as a captain for the Allstars, but win or lose that position, I am looking forward to another year of skating with this league, and continuing our progress in the world of derby Very Happy
Derby Love,

Post  T Wrecks Thu Sep 15, 2011 10:37 pm

Wow. This is some tough competition. Wink I would be honored to be on any one of your teams, or be a captain along side any of you ladies. That being said, I think I would be a great choice for an All-Star captain. Why? Well, let me tell you. Here we go...

My name is T. Wrecks (insert RAWR). I have been with the Missfits since we were having meetings at Denny's, deciding on a league name (thank baby jesus we went with this one- I can't imagine us NOT being called the McLean County Missfits). Since then, I have worked on making myself a constant, necessary fixture of the team. I began as a jammer. Wanting to broaden my "derby horizons," I made it my goal to start blocking more. I now know both positions fairly well, and have worked on teaching the newer Missfits every aspect of the game. I am always available whenever anyone has a question or concern, and this league has become one of my top priorities. I rarely miss practice, and have attended freshmeat ones as well. I am at nearly every fundraiser, event, car/dog wash, etc., etc. I'd like to think I am quite recognizable as a Missfit. My schedule is flexible, I have experience bench coaching, I know the game inside out, and I play well with others. I have run multiple practices before, and am always open for feedback. I have also attended other league's practices to get any and all pointers to bring back to our league.

Drinking Committee aside, I also keep our lovely website updated on a regular basis. I keep the community informed of the Missfit going-ons, and like to think I'm fairly organized. Most importantly, I think I have the perfect attitude to be a captain: I am always working to better myself and the team. I'm a "glass half full" sort of gal, and I try to preject my positivity on others around me. Even if I am having the worst day ever, I still come to practice ready to skate. We are athletes. And I know how important each minute of practice is.

I really don't know what my life was like before derby. Honestly, I don't remember what I did with myself. I am so fortunate to have found something I love, with a team that I love. Derby is on my mind 24/7, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Oops, I didn't mean to make you guys read all that. Sorry about the tangent. To summarize: I love this league and would do anything for it. Any of these candidates running would be the bee's knees, so any decision is a good one in my opinion. I'm so lucky to be a part of something so amazing. Cheers.

I have to admit I'm having a hard time figuring out what i want to say here. I'm not a big fan tooting my own horn unless I know it will make someone giggle. I will say anything if I know it will make someone giggle.
I can't say that my qualifications are much different than the amazeballs ladies that have already posted before me. I was at the first Denny's meetings. I do miss some practices and fundraisers but i go to as much as I can to and there are even times when I get off practice and go right back to work. Not to mention the times I'm at practice when other people think I am at work. I have also been to other league practices and even though I am an alternate for the All-Star team i have had the opportunity to skate as an All-Star a couple of times. I am a co-captain of the Alpha Betties. I have organized and ran team practices and I've helped run league practices.
The reason I am running for Captain of the All-Stars is that I think I'm fully capable of picking a team of the best players on our league who also skate together like a dream come true. I'm honest and objective about skaters and their abilities. I am always paying attention during bouts and scrimmages whether I am on or off the track. I know the strengths and weaknesses of the majority of the skaters on our league. I know I can pick an amazing team because I helped Bruiz E. pick the Alpha Betties.
I can't help but admit that I think anyone on the list of skaters running for the All-Star Captain position is just as capable of picking and running a strong All-Star team as I am. I also think that the entire list is equally deserving of the position. Win or lose I know I'm going to be happy and excited about the outcome. I have a derby crush on pretty much everyone running. I can't help myself. Smart women that are super hot make my heart happy.

Captains for All Stars Empty Re: Captains for All Stars

Post  May Q Sick Mon Sep 19, 2011 2:53 am

A tad bit late to be posting my little campaign speech...I blame Bonnie D Stroir for kicking my ass so hard this weekend! It was very painfull but super fun with loads of amazing info! Cant wait to teach all of you every last step of it! It is very difficult and extremely detailed. Pretty sure we could spend the rest of our derby days telling you all the ins and outs of her jammer and blocker strategies.

With that said, I would like to tell you a story. When I was in high school, my favorite coach was my coach in basketball and softball. During my high school days I wanted nothing more then to be an amazing coach just like him. Since starting derby I realized that I have been given the opprotunity to do just that. So many of you have asked me how to do specific skills. It might take awhile to find that perfect way to teach it to you, but I never give up trying. Its been a learning process for all of us really. I love the teaching part so much that I wanted to be on the Freshmeat Committee with Jackers. That has opened into the opportunity to be a Committee head with the better half of our dynamic dou, Ms Wrecksy Regulator. I learn my skills from all you amazing MissFits and I teach these skills to the rest of the league so that you all will skate to the best of your ability. I genuinely want you to be better then me at everything...even if that means that the league is so amazing that I dont even make the a or b team. This means I have accomplished my goal to be an amazing coach/mentor/teacher! I would love to achieve this goal I set at a young age by helping make every MissFit reach their full potential.

I have had the privilege of watching everyone of you skills test and also grow leaps and bounds every practice. I would set aside any personal relationships when choosing the All Star team and aproach it with my competative nature. If you should choose to check the box by my name...please know that I will pour my soul into making this team as amazing as possible. If you choose to mark someone elses name...I respect that decision as well bc these girls are tits! I will still strive to make every one of you the best skater you can be no matter the outcome. Good luck to the ladies running. To everyone voting thanks for reading our posts and please take alot of time considering who would be the best choice for the All Star captains. Each vote is important...the 3 choosen captains will be a major stepping stone to the success of the league in this next year. Please cast your votes for the 3 you think will be the driving force into success. There are so many great choices that I havent even decided who to vote for yet.

Mad MissFit love to every single one of you!
