Most of the vets know Heidi from Soy City. She is gonna need some MissFit lovin. Several weeks ago she found out that she has breast cancer. Last week she had a bilateral mastectomy where they removed both breasts. She has been very private about it and I dont want to embarass her...but it would be nice to show her a little support. I asked Camp for a few tickets to see if she could come to our bout. Candie or someone crafty can make an awesome card and I can mail it to Cherry with the tickets. If she can come we should do something nice for her...quietly! Tonight I plan to chat up Elissa and find out how she is doing. We can work from there. Lets show her how big our MissFit Love is!

I can give her a tattoo "cancer survivor" non gratis...free is what I mean. My mom doesn't want one and they're some of my favorite tattoos to do. Smile

You know Bruiz E already texted me last night about putting the knitty titty committee to work, and I'll start as soon as I can. You've already given me the first piece of information I need - that she needs 'em in pairs. We'll also need to know her cup size, so I can make them to fit the bras she already has. (Once she's been surprised, if she wants to commission small ones for practice or big ones for dressing up, we can do that.)

BruizE suggested 2 sets to start - one fairly natural-looking, and one in derby colors. I'll do all the knitting, unless someone else wants to join in. It's a little complicated (some knitting in the round, some finishing tricks), but won't take very long.

Non-knitters can help, too! I think she should get a nipple ring, preferably with some sort of skating charm. Does someone want to make nipple jewelry for knit boobs? Also, these get weighted with small stones or those glass pebbles so they'll feel more real. A lot of the knitters like to write a special message on the stone before it's stuffed inside, so someone could take care of putting together something from the MissFits. And finally, some people make the knit tits with decorative nipples. We might want that for the red and black set - so keep your eyes open for the perfect set of buttons, or beads, or if anyone has some worn-out bearings to cannibalize, we could make nipples from bearing parts.

Sick, will you try to find out her cup size tonight? And make sure she doesn't have any weird allergies? I'll plan on using the softest machine-washable yarn I can find, unless there's something else I should do.

I would love to contribute to this in some way. I can help buy some yarn or other supplies.

My mom also had a double mastectomy years ago after her 2nd cancer diagnosis. This hits really close to home.

I can also help with whatever. I don't knit by any means, but I'm open to anything that needs to be done!
